For Immediate Release: May 10, 2012
Contact: Carmen Fenton, 512-469-0171

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Come join the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) for a ranch gathering Thursday, May 24, at Holt River Ranch in Graford. A reception will kick off the gathering at 5:30 p.m., followed by a complimentary barbecue dinner courtesy of Pfizer Animal Health catered by Hard Eight Bar-B-Que.

Senator Craig Estes and Rep. Jim Keffer will update the group on the upcoming Texas legislative session and specifically discuss the issues that will affect Texas ranchers and landowners. Senator Estes currently serves as chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and vice chairman of the Senate Natural Resources Committee. Rep. Keffer serves as chairman of the House Energy Resources Committee.

“Both Senator Estes and Rep. Keffer have worked hard in Austin to protect the interests of Texas cattlemen and women,” said Joe Parker Jr., rancher and TSCRA president. “It’s important for ranchers to know what’s on the horizon in 2013 and how they can play an active role in the state lawmaking process.”

Ranchers will also have the opportunity to hear from featured speakers Dr. Glenn Rogers and Kevin Milliner, both with Pfizer Animal Health. They will give tips to increase cattle health and value as well as discuss and answer questions on genomic opportunities for cattlemen.

“TSCRA ranch gatherings are a great place for folks to get together for fellowship and discuss what’s going on in the cattle business. These gatherings aren’t just for TSCRA members. Anyone interested in the cattle industry is invited to attend,” Parker said.

The event is open to the public. All members of the press are invited to attend.

Please RSVP to 800-242-7820, ext. 192, or rsvp@tscra.org.

Holt River Ranch is located at 1832 Grassy Ridge Road, 3 miles south of Graford.

The ranch gathering is sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health and Helena Chemical Co.
